‘Cinch’ public seating project

Tom Loeser’s ‘Cinch’ is a public seating project installed in the lobby of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. The benches are made of industrial felt and steel wrapped around architectural columns. Felt is a very attractive material but is it suitable for a public space?Another example of seats in felt are the ‘Joseph’ (2000) and ‘Sq. Yrds’ (2002) benches by Chris Ferebee.
