Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec / Kokeshi
At Design Addict we appreciate design (obviously) and also craftmanship. When the best of both worlds meet, it can produce small miracles. This contemporary version of Kokeshi designed by the Bourroulec brothers and produced by craftsmen from eastern Japan is a good example. Simple and pure forms, a smart mechanism that allows dolls to bow respectfully while suggesting the shape of the arm. It is the culture of a country and its savoir-faire that are concentrated together in 3 pieces of wood. Superb!
