Hoikkala Susanna

Designer Susanna Hoikkala (1975 Kotka, Finland) works with interior textile patterns and objects for home.
Hoikkala has studied intaglio print making, art history and design and has graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki.

Susanna is one of the founders of pattern design Studio Kelkka in Finland. She strives clarity and beauty in her work which has been included in several design exhibitions in Finland and abroad.

Hoikkala studied:
In 1994, Matriculation Examination, Karhula Highschool.
In 1994-1995, Basic studies in Art history, Faculty of Arts, Helsinki University.
From 1995 to 1998, Fine Art Studies, Major studies in Intaglio printmaking, Academy of Pekka Halonen.
From 1999 to 2002, Bachelor of Arts, Department of Ceramics and Glass Design, University of Art and Design Helsinki, UIAH.
In 2002, Master of Arts-studies, Department of Ceramics and Glass Design, University of Art and Design Helsinki, UIAH.

She designed ‘Oma- lemonsqueezer’ for Departures, a product design project for Tonfisk Design Oy (2001) and in 2002, for Valio Milk Glass Competition 2002, II prize.
