Great discussion guys, exactly what I was looking for! Now for people, who don't have the patience to take this apart and get it back together by themselves, can anyone repair the flo-tilt mechanism (the early type) in my beautiful blue Eames Aluminum Lounge Chair in or around NYC? The problem is, it is not coming back up after leaning backwards, so spring no tension). Also there is one of the four screws missing connecting the ottoman base to the ottoman seat.

Just in case I will have to do it myself, where can I get the parts/ tools?
Thanks for your input!

Aurel

replace base bracket with torsion bar
I have an early Eames flo-tilt mechanism lounge chair and I believe that the entire assembly may be replaced by a more contemporary torsion bar system part as later versions of the chair were manufactured.
