Hi All,

I'm hoping someone may have a recommendation for removing dried glue (or resin) from an Eames DCM chair.  The chair is black plywood.  Somebody tried unsuccessfully to replace the shock mounts and in the process smeared excess glue over the plywood.  We are reticent to use acetone in case it damages the plywood.

@chair-king

Unfortunately, I've had to re-glue nearly every shock mount on our set of 4 DCMs purchased new 24-years(!) ago. Fortunately, they've all remained firmly in place over many years since. I credit hours of tedious and painstaking effort on my part and Alfie Hume's recommended adhesive for my results.

It pains me to inform you that complete mechanical removal of all failed adhesive from all surfaces is essential for long-term success. If you haven't slit your wrists yet and would like me to offer a more detailed description of my journey to the depths, simply ask nicely. The brighter side is that, after 3 or 5, they do get a bit easier somehow. But only a bit.

Oh, and your reticence regarding acetone is well-founded.
