Hi there. I have been inspired by the previous threads concerning the restoration of eames 670 & 71 reproductions. Well, I am about to start on a upholstery project of my own, for one of 2 copies that I have. One is a plycraft, and one is a Selig copy. I'll be starting with the Selig, as it is currently upholstered in vinyl. I am getting swatches from Kyson's in the next week or so. Looking forward to some advise and support from all of you that have already embarked on a project like this.
I do have one question that I am hoping to get some advise on...regarding the leather piping...Does anybody know of an outfit that sells piping ready made? I don't think that i will be making my own, as I do not own a sewing machine.

thanks

Our company has redone 1...
Our company has redone 100's of those plycraft and Selig chairs.
since you are interested in redoing it all by your self, which will not be a problem at all just get a good staple gun and be sure to go an buy a tool to pull the buttons through cost about 5.00 busks.looks like a big needle with a eye to pull the thread through
Then your best bet would be to take what you want piped down to a local reuplostery shop that specializes in automotive chairs,.and boats..etc. They have the big sewing machines and can match your leather with no problem to make your piping no one sells ready made piping as to many differnt styles and shapes and colors . That is your best bet if you want it to have a professional look rather than a home made job....
