Hi, I have a dining set by Giovanni Maur for Treco and one of the chairs has a crack in the back rest. Someone glued it at some point but that repair failed the other day. Anyone have any tips on a fix or is this crack not really repairable? Thanks for any help!

Ever wonder why caps on glue bottles are almost always made from polypropylene or HDPE? I suppose that some sort of structural repair is *possible* either by plastic welding or use of adhesives and laying on a supporting matrix like fiberglass cloth but, either way, you'd need to first ID the specific polymer and compatible glue. Whatever you do won't be pretty. I'd consider it a goner. If you want to keep the crack from lengthening farther, drill a 2 or 3mm diameter hole at its terminus.
