I had a Skovby table lying around that had had some serious UV damage. I stripped it a couple of months ago, and more recently dyed the UV affected areas and it's been sat since, unfinished.

I whipped it out for some practice French polishing, before I try my hand with shellac on another table I want to keep. And firstly, it's fun. Secondly, it turned out pretty brilliantly for my first go. This is without pumice too.

Quite the mirror reflection.

So I may go whole shellac finish on my table now. Haven't decided yet. I would recommend giving it a go, if you're meticulous and have some patience.
