Hi everyone,

I just got two 1950s Dot stools, and would like to restore them.

I am facing two issues:

1) All plastic or rubber clips that stabilize the seat are either missing or broken (see pictures below). Where to get these plastic or rubber clips that stabilize the seat? Alternatively, if it is not possible to find these parts anymore, what alternative would you suggest? I know that parts can be found for series produced later, but I am afraid that would not fit mine: https://www.design-restoration-spares.com/product/seat-stabilizer-under-seat-fritz-hansen-arne-jacobsen-set-of-3-or-4/

2) Also, what would you recommend to restore the teak seats?

Thanks in advance!

Cob

Hi Cob,

These are not dot stools made by Fritz Hansen (the true designer of the dot stool is still unclear) but rather generic scandinavian stools that look a lot like the dot. I remember seeing them everywhere in Denmark and they were relatively cheap (around 30-40

Thank you for your prompt and detailed response, DrPoulet. I really appreciate it.

I did not pay an extravagant price, so it is neither a good or bad deal. Even if they are not Fritz Hansen dot stools (lesson learnt), I like the style.

Thanks for your advice regarding their restoration.

Cheers,

Cob
