Our beautiful Finn Juhl table was scorched in a mishap involving a candle and we very much want to restore it to its former glory. Can anyone recommend a specialist in London who would be up to this job?
Many thanks.

Dispair
Hi BTO
a burn mark on any furniture is horrible and let alone on a finn juhl table.
Unfortunately for you a burn mark alters the entire layer of veneer and therefore is near on impposible to repair.
You can not sand it as the risk of going through the venner is great and the black burn goes all the way through.
The resuface option is also difficult if yours is rosewood as this (the original brazilian type) was banned in 1978 and thus not availablee anymore.
My advice to you is to claim the cost of another table from your insurers as this may prove the only viable option.

repair
scrape the burnt fibres *very carefully* with a sharp chisel.

.
Have specified wood consolidation products to restore building woodwork but not certain if it's viable last resort option for fine furniture

I disagree with Simon about...
I disagree with Simon about the difficulty of repairing burn marks. It really all depends on how deep the burn went.
I've had plenty of luck completely removing cigarette burns.
I imagine a professional restorer would have more tricks than I do. That said, maybe post some photos of the damage so we have a better idea.

Agree with foxxy.
A pro can offer options. Ask reputable local dealers for recommendations.
