Some years ago, I purchased a tripod floor lamp which I have subsequently learnt was produced by Rite Lite in Australia in the early 1950s. The lamp is in a sorry state -one of the metal arms is bent out of shape and a previous owner had had a go at removing the paint on the shades but stopped halfway. Not surprisingly, it also needs rewiring.
I'm not skilful (or patient) enough to complete the repair myself and would really like any restoration to do the lamp justice as it could look stunning.
I've carried it with me from Singapore to my present home in Hong Kong but have been unable to find anyone in either location who could take on the job.
If any reader knows of a firm/person who is experienced in taking on restoration projects of this nature (whether in Hong Kong, Asia or further afield), I would be most grateful if you could post a response.
Thanks!

I'll be able to post a picture of the actual lamp in a few hours once I reach home. I have a scan of a '50s newspaper advert that contains the same lamp but I don't want to post that in case it breaches any forum rules.

Hopefully a photo of the lamp is now attached to this message. The black shade (which is facing the camera so its difficult to see) is actually in the worst shape in terms of paint loss.

Nice
Thats a bad ass lamp! Most of the Australian lamps from the period I have seen are anodized. Not sure how to bring that back. Buddy of mine has had really good results just respraying lamps with enamel spray paint. Test it out first on some old metal object you don't care too much about. Hopefully others on the forum can steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for your comments and tips jdip. I guess enamel paints would be an option for the shades, but my involvement in the restoration is very much a last resort (what began as a three-arm lamp would most probably end up a two-arm lamp by the time I was through!)

The tubular
components of the lamp appear to be straight pieces. Thus, replacing the bent one with a new piece might not be that difficult -- or expensive ?

shouldn't be hard at all....ah advertising, I have one of these ceiling fixtures/insects graveyards in my dream home, occasionally I daydream about cleaning it but the urge soon passes.

Hi Jim aka Tom ado!
Just a couple of questions, and a comment!!??
I'm curious about the stainless bracket (chair rail height) that has a lightbulb inserted? Is it functional?
and what is the ground cover that you have in front of the building?
and lastly, is that Heath's high school graduation picture (in pastel) hanging on the wall?
ps, (the comment) Interesting windmill!!!

ritelite lamp
These were produced in the early 1950s. They were not anodised but painted . The optional colour variations were either with all the shades the same colour [often red] or the 3 way i.e. mid red, yellow and blue. The traces would be below the paint top layer.
