Hi everyone.
I've just purchased a 1970's Pieff table with a chrome base. The wooden top had an awful dark brown varnish. I've stripped and scraped the table and it's now back to its bare state. The grain is wonderful. I believe it's ash.

I want to use this as a kitchen table and would prefer a danish oil colour/finish, however need something more watertight and sustainable for regular use.Has anyone had experience of refinishing a solid ash top?
Finally, the base could do with re chroming, Dose anyone know of a good company close to London who could do this for me.
Thanks
