Hi there,
I just got a PH Snowball lamp from the 1990's and need to extend the cable to fit it into my living room. When I unscrewed the light bulb mount to remove the cable I was surprised to see that it is 2 core (i.e. only live and neutral). Is it safe to replace it with a 2 core wire or should I find a lighbulb fighting that is 3 core? If so, does anyone know where I can get such a replacement part?
Many thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Max

The ground wire in your ceiling box sold be attached to the the metal chassis of the lamp. The bulb socket only needs to have live/hot and neutral.
When in doubt call an electrician.
