Someone has offered me four of these (circa 1970, I'd guess), but the rattan is dry, crunchy, and crumbling. I'm wondering if it's prohibitively expensive to have the seats redone in rattan. Any experiences?

few are qualified
william-holden-caulfield,
It seems that there are very few qualified people to do the required work. I have included the link to: The Caning Shoppe - 200 Elm Street, North Cambridge MA 02140. This is one of the few. I too run from this type of restoration. Good luck.

Ark - are you in the Boston Area? I was about the recommend the Cane Shoppe as well. I've seen MR chairs in their window from time to time. They also do Cesca, Wegner, Moller, & Thonet chairs.
And I dunno why, but the Cane Shoppe website lists them in Cambridge - they're totally in Somerville, MA. (a block away)

I get around
LuciferSum,
No I do not live in the Boston area, but I know these people to be "one of the few" very qualified in this line of work. It is too easy to find "high end" workers and spend money in the 21st century.
