Hi, we have just bought a '50s Lightolier floor lamp designed by Thurston. The lamp works, but needs some clean up (brass) and powder coat (scrathes). Also, the 'saucer' or cone part of it is falling out, and the light bulb holder, and the switch knob are not aligned.

Any idea what shop to bring it to restore? Like to bring it to a shop where they know their lamps. Thanks!

Where to go? Lightolier, of course.
I will answer by example-
This isn't lightolier and it's not LA, but I had a '70s Artimide, and they have a showroom here in New York City. I called them, and they said to bring it to their showroom. They do repair work on any product from their brand- past/present. I dropped a pair of lamps off with them last week.
Fairly regularly someone will post here and ask where to go to have this piece or that piece repaired. My advice is always- 'Whenever possible, go to the source.' I'm sure Lightolier as an LA showroom. Give them a call. Take it back to the source. They will be able to repair/refurbish it.
Cheers, and enjoy your lamps.

Lightolier Repair
Lightolier is now part of a large conglomerate, and the only thing that matters to them now is the next quarterly profit. The company's venerable history counts for nothing.
I have a fixture that Tommi Parzinger designed for Lightolier back in the late 40s or early 50s, and called to see if they maintained an archive. No such luck, nor did anyone at their headquarters seem to care about past designs.
In LA, your best bet may be to contact Rewire, an enterprise that restores vintage designer fixtures for resale. They list lamps and fixtures on 1stdibs.com, including a number of Thurston designs. If they won't repair your lamp for you, no doubt they can point you in the right direction. Good luck.
