So I picked up a Kartell Usame table over the weekend, it was a fair price and the seller had informed me this was due to some blemishes on the surface. Sure enough, I guess some type of alcohol (wine??) was spilled or used to wipe it off, and the blemishes actually appear to be chemically etched onto the surface and are raised / bumpy to the touch.

Would anyone advise whether this type of damage can be repaired? Would Kartell's plastic cleaner kit (or any other polishing kit?) help at all? Should I attempt to smoothen it with a razor or would that only make it worse??

Thanks for any help, I can try to attach some pictures later if that would help.

if its anything
if its anything deeper than a fine scratch you're kind of screwed. An acrylic polish like Novus will get rid of fine scratches and a little surface fog - but if its etched in there isnt much you can do.

Raised
blemishes would potentially be easier to deal with than incised ones, as no filling would be necessary. Provided the surface you are dealing with is truly flat, a block with very fine abrasive paper/cloth could potentially be used to "plane" the surface, after which polishing could be started. But I'm not familiar with the properties of this resin as far as how it would react to sanding and polishing. . .
