I posted about this chair some time ago, which I bought to restore (and because I love it). Thanks for your comments Leif Ericson and CD Silva. The time has now come to actually do something other than just look at it. The more I do that though the more I think a less is more approach is the way to go with this piece. I too love the upholstery, the leather has that fantastic worn-in look that can't be replicated but easily ruined. It is, however, looking a little sorry for itself and has worn through on the edge of the seat (photos attached). I don't want to replace it so think that patching is the only way, but realise that this could be disastrous if not done properly. I can't think of any alternatives and wondered if anyone in the forum was thinking more laterally than I am at the moment. The arms are of Brazillian Rosewood and the rest of the frame (I'm reasonably sure) is Walnut. It could be Afromosia but with less is more in mind I don't want to do too much scratching around and hope a thorough but gentle clean will be best. As always thanks for your shared wisdom. Rick S
