I'm looking for a recommendation, if any, on repairing this fiberglass chair with a crack that travels the entire width of the seat. The seat edge is still sturdy, and wondering if I wet-sand it — would that do the trick? If this is unsalvageable, that's okay, but I'd like to take one crack at trying to revive this chair.
Also, I've used Penetrol in the past and had amazing results, however, Penetrol on white / parchment tends to slightly yellow. Any recommendations on a Penetrol alternative that works well on white / parchment?
All comments are appreciated, thanks!

If anyone is curious, I found just found this article that details a step-by-step process for fixing fiberglass shell cracks. I'm going to try this and will follow-up with the results.

Hey, that's my album! 🙂 I did far from a perfect job, but honestly, 90% of the time I don't even think about the fact that it was repaired. It's a pretty chair and it looks good (and cost a lot less than similar arm shells I've seen since).
I will tell you that, in my experience, the white/cream/parchment shells are the absolute hardest to get a color match for. I still haven't figured out how to get it right. So any patch you have will definitely be visible, just so you know. But good luck, keep us posted!
Hi I just wanted to throw my few cents into the mix. I´m currently on my 4th or 5th fiberglass chair repair. Regardless of how deep your crack is, I would first sand at 80 grit around your cracked area, clean the area with a cleaner followed by acetone and then assess your game plan (keep it or get rid of it). Assuming your crack is as bad as your pictures show, you should apply several layers of fiberglass epoxy resin with fiberglass mat to strengthen that area on both sides. Then come back with the sander and work your way up to smooth out the repaired area (remember to wear proper protection as the fiberglass particles are nasty). Color matching will be difficult as your color is a off white, greige maybe parchment. On a few youtube videos people suggest saving the fiberglass powder and adding it to your epoxy resin...it will give a similar color but from experience, the color will be slightly darker. I wouldn't be too concerned with color matching as you could just buy a side chair shell cushion which will cover the majority of the crack. Good luck.
