I finally found me a nice 670/671 combo for a good price but in need of some work. One shockmount failed already so I want to replace all of them now.
The problem is that they are embed in the plywood and cannot be removed with a cutter knife and a spattle. The photo shows the part where the shockmount came off, along with traces of "repairs" done by the pre-owners. Any ideas how to remove them without damaging the wood?

more photos and information:
The veneer is ok on the bottom, but very faded and scratched on the back parts. I already started to work on this.
The chair is labeled "Contura, Licensed by Herman Miller. Designer:Charles Eames". I found only one piece of information about Contura on a Dealer's Site, he wrote that Contura was first choosen by Eames as a contractor for Europe but could not produce the necessary quantities and was then taken over by Vitra. Is that true?

Use a pull saw. See my repair. It has worked for 5.5 years. http://www.instructables.com/id/Eames-Lounge-Chair-rubber-shock-mount-re...
