Hi All,

I got my hands on this set of Cado royal shelving system with a teak veneer, which are slightly damaged (see photos, some of the worst pieces shown). There's a bit of water damage, and a fair amount of darkening due to light bulbs, and many shallow scratches. Most of it seems very superficial, so even though they are usable as-is, I'm pondering the opportunity to refinish/touch up the finish. Online advice on teak care is highly variable and finding a reliable source is challenging.

So any link to a reliable site appreciated. My main questions are: is touching up a reasonable idea? What is the finish on the cado teak veneers? It looks a bit thicker than most oil finishes I've seen.

Thanks!

Do the shelves have 'made in ...
Do the shelves have 'made in denmark' on the back of the shelves? Some of them look a little odd? I once bought a load of this stuff and when it came time to take it down, 1 in 3 of the shelves were 'home-made' shelves with holes drilled in them. The seller said her husband was 'quite a handyman' and made them. hmm.
I'd take them to a pro polisher somewhere, shouldn't be too much per shelf.
If you need any little bits and bobs, fittings etc, I've some kicking about somewhere..

They don't
look too bad, I'd try some fine grade wire wool and Danish oil to begin with

They don't have any labels,
but they do seem very uniform, so I very much doubt they're home made. What do you find odd about them? I don't believe the previous owner would have built such shelves up...

They
often, but not always, have an impressed mark on the back edge

@Cream and Chrome
I could do with some extra pegs if you have some lying about, as well as some of the screws to attach the brass fittings (However I gather those are pretty standard).iltuje@gmail.com

Cado system screws
Some of the bracket screws on this system were missing and we are looking to replace them. Anyone knows what format these screws are? They appear to be close to 8-32, but neither 8-32's or metrics seem to be a good fit. The guy at the hardware store tried to convince me that they were 8-32's and proceeded to force on down, damaging the thread, so I'm hoping I'll find better luck here!
Cheers,
Iltuje

An odd request
This may seem an odd request, but do you have any pictures of the underside of the shelves? I have a system that I'm trying to determine whether is a Cado system or not. The shelves I have look much like yours on the top, but have a groove built into the underside of the shelf where the bracket attaches. I've been told my system is not Cado, but I have not been able to determine what else it might be. And, cannot mount them until I determine the manufacturer as I don't currently have the proper brackets.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
tim

The top and bottom look just the same on these shelves,
except for differential wear. So the pictures attached above could be either top or bottom. Probably not the same system as yours, then...

Aaah!
Finally got to the last step of this restoration project, helping a metal bracket give birth to this broken-in half-bolt. Such a rewarding experience!
Thanks for all the help and advice!

I don't know
the system, but -- do those notches in the corners of your shelves look home-cut ?

SDR, I don't believe those...
SDR, I don't believe those corners are home cut. One of my Cado systems has the same cutouts. Its where the back of the shelves slot into the rails. Inasmuch as these portions are not exposed when hanging, Cado did not bother with laminate on these surfaces.

a link to finding missing parts
for this system.
Looking further on their site shows the different systems.
None are interchangeable.
Odd that they don't have the wooden bracket system like mine.
This photo shows the factory cuts.
