Hi. I just picked up a vintage bertoia side chair with a black base and a white seat. It's been painted over a few times, and it's getting rusty. I was wondering if I could take paint stripper to the chair and repaint it myself in the same colors with spray paint. I'm not going to use it outdoors, so I don't need it power coated or anything. I just don't want to harm the chair. Thanks!

A picture
Sorry about that! Here's a picture, although not very good. I'm not in the house right now, so this is all I can get you. You can tell it hasn't been re-painted carefully because there is white paint mist on the black base.

Looking forward to seeing some suggestions here. I have a black and white side chair in a similar condition and I'm not sure how to paint/deal with rust.
I've heard professional powdercoating is the best option but I'd be keen to hear if theres other schools of thought.
