Hello there,
I got a great deal on 5 original / new HM Eames side shell chairs w/o bases.
When they arrived the specs seemed to match the 70's fiberglass production models however the holes for the hardware are what appear to be 100% nylon without any threads for screws...
I have spoken to a couple of repro base makers who are confident that their bases would "fit" but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this personally and or know anything about the type of hardware needed to mount the bases.
I will post some pics for reference.

There should be a threaded insert in each hole. Perhaps try contacting Herman Miller for the parts.

terraform,
Stop speaking with reproduction base makers who are confident and start talking to Herman Miller who is knowledgeable. woodywood's suggestion is more than good advice, it is common sense.
The bulk of the contributors to this forum have no interest in reproductions (including the base). Once again, common sense dictates that reproduction parts be used (and documented) when working with obscure pieces where OEMl parts are not available. This is not your case.
Two choices exist for your chairs. Use OEM parts and return to glory or suffer with a POS.
