Regis Philbin
is a doofus -- that is, an embarrassment to American television.
My Regis Philbin story: Thirty or more years ago, Philbin signed on as sidekick to Joey Bishop (!), on a new bottom-rung daytime talk show. On the episode I witnessed, guest Bette Davis took out a cigarette while host Bishop was telling a story. Noticing this, Philbin picked up the silver coffee-table lighter and held it toward Miss Davis. As she bent forward, cigarette in mouth, lips pursed, Philbin flicked on the lighter -- and then had his attention drawn (ever the syncophant) to the Bishop punchline, causing him to pull away from the cigarette as Davis bent further to reach the drifting lighter, the camera following the whole thing . . .
Priceless! I wonder who got the rough edge of Bette's tongue after THAT one. . .
yes, that chandelier bubble...
yes, that chandelier bubble lamp is unusually large
At 1:30, you can see a video of Nelson gesturing in the background. Then you see him reach under the table and produce what appears to be a club/mace? Peace keeper in the Nelson office?
Nice simple video. Still surprised that the exhibit wasn't arranged and presented here in the US. Glad Vitra is doing it.
Another thing... has the exhibit given Nelson a broad stroke, or have others been given credit?
