The sections are still all there, Ernest. Maybe you changed how you get to the forum, or something? On my computer I bookmarked the main forum page where all topics show, then I just read whatever interests me. If i wanted to look at a specific section only, the photos below show how I do that.
If that process doesn't work for you, post here. It's possible that the DA programmer made some little change that wasn't compatible with your browser, or something like that. If it doesn't work, please post what you see and also what browser you're using.
Hi, sorry for having missed it. Spanky, thank you for taking the time to explain!
Another thing I wanted to ask: I find it very complicated to post anything from my mobile phone, as it asks to verify that I am not a robot, and you need to click on all these images with cars, store fronts, and so on, but when I write from my PC I do not have to do it. Is there a reason for this difference?
Cheers
Ernest
I don't know why that is! The robot quiz is a security measure so maybe your computer or network already has built-in security? I am not all that tech-savvy, I've just figured out a few things here and there. I think cell phones in general are not as secure as laptops or other kinds of computers. Maybe.
I get the robot quiz on my laptop, as do most people, I think. The forum owners added this security measure after repeated attacks from Chinese marketing bots that posted ads for fake university degrees---a different school in each post. They posted over 3,000 of these in the space of a week or two. They were deleted pretty quickly so if you didn't happen to log on at the right time (or wrong time, I guess), you wouldn't have noticed. I think they were pretty much all in the General Discussion section, so if you never read that section you would have missed them. The robot quiz is a pain in the neck but it does serve an actual purpose. I have no idea if it's the best security device (?) out there. I know other much bigger sites don't use it (New York Times, for one) yet you don't see tons of spam in reader comments on articles. I have an IT brainiac in the family who might have some thoughts on the subject; I'll ask next time I talk to him.
I rarely use my phone when I post here because the formatting is different and it's a pain to sort through it each time.
