I'd have to say my Wegner J16 rocker, too--as long as we don't have to count stuff with family connections like my uncle's pottery and glass and my brother's art.

I rocked my grandson in mine and if I'd had it when my kids were babies, I would definitely never, ever get rid of it. (Congrats on yours!)

Reamie, well before it seems possible, you will have to let go of that child.

At that point, a chair is just a chair.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Reamie. We also restored a great old rocker to use in the nursery when our first was born and spent untold late night/early morning hours in it cuddling our babies. Those memories are as precious as they come, but they live in me, not in the chair. I like the chair just fine, though. It's functional, sturdy, looks great next to the fireplace, and is supremely comfortable. We'll probably keep it for as long as it fills a need.

Life is complicated enough already without inventing emotional attachment to things ...with the possible exception of my snow blower. I pet that thing every time I go near it.

Emotional attachment to one's home and its specifically curated and organized contents is not necessarily unhealthy. It's often a very subjective thing; one person's trash is another's fetish..
