My family knows that i am hard to buy for so they bought me books on modern architecture and they hit it on the money as the perfect gifts for me , Here is a sample of four of the books.
L.A modern Tim street porter
New New York Interiors Taschen
The Wright Experience a master architects vision
Modern Architecture anthony Hassell
All four books look great,

Also in the music dept. Enyas new CD and Natashia Bettingfield pocket full of Sunshine,

and cannot forget my O.U. Sweatshirt goooooooo Sooners!!! number 1

It has been a good year for me in the furniture dept.
with a Mies tuganet chair, a Eames 1948 coffee table, A Bertoia spray lamp. and a George Nelson sofa,

so ... I would say my christmas/Chanukah came early all year long for me.

To all my great friends on DA a happy and Peaceful holiday and i hope you got what you wanted. Lloyd

A treasure
My daughter and son were in the Goodwill on Tuesday shopping for sweaters for an "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party" and bought me this $8 lamp. They were sooooo proud of their find!

My Family struggles on what to get me too...
so they pretty much avoid anything 'desgined'. I got:
A gift certificate for a spa
A really good cookbook
The 25th anniversary issue of Trivial Pursuits
A new battery for my laptop (needed that!)
But my nephew, who is 7, painted me two canvases in the style of Mark Rothko. Rothko is my fav and my nephew's art teacher coached him on the style. The kid is a pretty darned good little artist and the canvases are awesome!

A Thomas Kinkade puzzle
Being an artist, there is always a joke about getting me Thomas Kinkade pieces at Christmas.
Also got Chairs : A History, by Florence Dampierre. Mostly historical chairs, but there is a slender chapter on Modern.

I got
Danish Modern & Beyond- so I can now identify american Danish inspired designs 😉
Robin & Lucienne Day by Lesley Jackson- long overdue, and was delighted to find my armchairs in there
Miller's Twentieth Century Glass by Andy McConnell- again long overdue, and also pleased to see an acknowledgement for me in there too!
A lovely lithograph of the Festival of Britain
I also got a thingummy to transfer my vinyl to my computer- my life's work can now begin........

Hey RBT1960...
What is that thingummy? Is it an Ion? We've been considering such a device and aren't sure what to purchase. My dad has a library of clasical on vinyl that is prodigiously impressive and we want to capture before he's too deaf to enjoy it any longer!

Smoke, sweets, alcohol, and light
Smiles all around.
Incoming: cigars, chocolate, and Scotch -- expendables much appreciated amid scarcity of display and storage space.
Outgoing (to spouse): Mauricio Klabin "Eclipse" table lamp -- came mysteriously packed flat in a pizza box; unfolded in a diverting little magic trick; sheds a pleasant, Akari-like glow from its perch on a white Tulip side table.

Hi Olive
The box says :
ION USB recording kit
It connects any audio source to a computer..i.e record deck, tape deck etc.
So basically, it turns vinyl into MP3
Ive also seen a USB record deck that does the same thing, but I have very good decks and was worried about possible quality loss from a pontentially inferior deck.
