No hybrid
or mismatched seat/back, just a wilder figured seat that could be mistaken for cherry without having clear view of the thing.
When viewing these things on a screen, color is just kind of an educated guess. The grain figure is what's telling. You can put a "walnut" stain on cherry and vice versa.
Books about wood (examined to i.d.) can be confusing because the sample photo swatches are so small/non-representative of the whole, and often these books mostly cover the crazy exotic decorative rainforest woods that we don't generally encounter in the furniture market so much.
To break it down more simply though, maple, cherry, mahogany, walnut, teak, pecan, birch and ash are fairly easy to distinguish. Depending on how the piece is treated, though, and how much of it can be seen, the grain figure of maple vs. cherry, or that of teak vs. walnut etc. can be very similar in appearance, and tough to tell apart.
oh, an off topic snappy...why not?
Bahahahahaha! I like the pants that I'm sporting this afternoon. I thinks that they were a gift from SDR, I just don't recall. I look stupid.
Yep,
Aunt Mark
ps The Florida crib is in the process of slider/doors/windows (impact resistant) replacement. I'm camping at a local hotel....and came back to check on the progress. The workers are handsome and slow. I need help.
