Hey everyone,

For years I have been watching this site and admire all beautiful design pieces.

Meanwhile, I also have some nice original designer furniture in my collection.

I love the Poul Kjaerholm design the most, but like everyone else I think.

Last weekend I was able to buy this chair, according to the previous owner at least 50 years old.

I fell on the looks, but I have no idea ... who is the creator and designer of this Eames style lounge chair.

Can someone help me to identify this chair?

Thanks

It's a period knock off of the Eames chair, designed by committee looking to cash in on a popular design.

At best you could possibly determine the manufacturer: Plycraft, Selig etc. but who cares? They are all worth the same and have the same level of desirability.

It does bear resemblance to one or more of the Plycraft variants, possibly reworked. Photos of where the back and seat panels join, the tilt/swivel mechanism, and base might help.

I have never before seen one with cap nuts, though. And, heaven help me, there's no way I'm resisting an opportunity to type "cap nuts".

Big ...chrome ...CAP NUTS!!

Four pair on one chair!

Well thank you. However I have found here in the Netherlands one about just the same. They claim it

I thought I noticed an Overman-style base peeking out in the earlier photo. I've never seen one like that on a Plycraft or any other N. American chair and all of theirs seemed to tilt. Or at least they did until they broke. It would surprise me to see a Plycraft chair in Europe, but this one seems to be similarly inspired (as RLG so delicately noted above). Appears maybe genuine leather, too?

I've been amazed by the prices of these things lately since I paid less than what is often asked for them for a nice HM ES670 not all that long ago. My wife and kids love it. Lucky me. Some of the knock-offs are more comfy for us taller folks, it turns out.

But the cap nuts! I'm jealous. Those are worth a premium!
