Vintage Don Shoemaker Style Trinket Box

I picked this up a while back........it's a nicely sculpted trinket box with a swivel top. The design reminds me of the Shoemaker S&P pieces.........and I believe this piece is either rosewood or cocobolo. It's a great little piece, and I'm just curious whether anyone has seen a box like this. Thanks.

Nice box. It kinda looks like Padauk to me.

I would say that it is definitely not rosewood, if by rosewood you mean Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra). Cocobolo is a rosewood in that it is a Dalbergia species. It could be that. Padauk is not a bad idea either.

It looks like a production type piece to me since the lid was not cut from the same piece of wood as the box.
