Hi all, only after spending countless hours trying to (positively) identify this lounge chair for a freind I find myself stumped and needing your help!
It might be a rare Hans Wegner chair. I do know tht it was purchased in Denmark in or around 1959.
Thanks for your help!!

also, hard to tell by bad pic., but the frame is oak and the four leg bottoms are "tipped" in teak.

Doesn't look like Wegner to me.
The teak socks could be a lead.

Interesting chair. Post more photos please. The bottom, the back, the teak socks, detail shots of how the various pieces fit together. Often an ID can turn on the smallest detail, especially in an instance like this.

Oh. And I'd not think it was Wegner. Doesn't look right stylistically, and his oeuvre is rather well known.

Chair
Have you seen another one like it under his name?
There are few chairs made with such short arms. Here is one:
Moller Arm Chair 55
Definitely not Wegner. However nice chair to restore.

No Lead socks bj, your kidding right?
Thanks for your opinions leif, I will get some detailed pics this weekend.
Thanks Smilo, I have seen the Moller and a few others but way different.
I personally have my doubts it is a Wegner, but I can't say "Definitely not Wegner"
I've read he designed over 500 chairs, and if only about 100 are known, then where are all the rest?
See this metal frame Wegner chair below and notice how similar the arm pads are?

No I wasn't.
There are several chair designs using those armrests.
The shell is rather poor quality and doesn't show much
refinement, making me thing it's more a popular design,
not of huge pedigree.

The Møller 55 has very similar arms. And the designer of it, stylistically speaking, seems a much closer fit than Wegner.
Can you also snap some detail shots of the sides and bottoms of those arms. I am curious if they are formed of two pieces of teak. Just like the older Møller 55s.

Wegner
I live in DK and there is little or no speculation about Wegner "lost chairs". All this production chairs are well documented. It was not that long ago and he was under contract to the largest producers here.
Are there any stamps on it?
