...
the dots seem to be working fine here on the west coast....
Evil dry foam in the 1950 womb chair
it continues to crumble.
but at least i can still sit in it
Unlike my super comfortable pre-1971 DOWN FILLED Eames lounger
which is BANISHED to the "shed" at the moment
because of typical shock mount failure

Eameshead, how will you repai...
Eameshead, how will you repair the shock mounts then? Btw, I like my down filled Eames Lounge Chair as well. Yes, it's a bit flat but still better than the stiff foam in the recent production.

it's still incredibly...
it's still incredibly comfortable, due to the angle at which it reclines. WAY more comfortable than an eames lounger (possibly the most overrated chair in history). However it loses its shape. This is not a good look, is it?

Some people just hate the Eam...
Some people just hate the Eames Lounge Chair. It happens to be my favorite piece of furniture. Yes, the shock mounts are annoying, but after a good repair, they're good for another 20 years which I find acceptable. Some people say it doesn't recliner which is true but I"m OK with it. No, it's not a perfect piece of furniture, but is there such a thing anyway?
In fact, mine has the somewhat flat down cushions and I think they look beautiful.

yes kin...
My lounger is also a favorite, and has the "beat up catcher's mitt" vibe going too.
I have the burnt sienna colored leather so its a natural.
I often tell myself that story about how Charles said that he wanted the beat up mitt look and feel to the leather, so I don't have to go through the trauma of replacing it. But kidding aside, I really do like the look.
Got a good 15 years out of those mounts since buying the chair, and then they finally went. So now I face the LOOMING shock mount repair.
I suppose I will attempt to find someone local in the SF Bay Area because I detest the thought of boxing it up and sending it away. I know there is a thread about that just recently, so I will have to read up.
I could also try and do it myself, but this is one repair I probably would never stop worrying about, so that is my second choice.
Or perhaps House Kebab might be interested in a soiled chair? (At gunpoint)

Eameshead, I'm in the SF area...
Eameshead, I'm in the SF area too. I have quite a few thoughts about replacing the shock mounts on the 670. If you like, I'd be happy to further discuss with you (no advertising involved). Feel free to email me at collectmcm@yahoo.com
I've been through hell and back with the shock mount replacement and hope to avoid you some headache...
I hope I'm not violating any forum rules by putting my email out.
