glider
an alternate to a rocker is a glider. what few times i've had to sit in one i found quite comfortable, smooth and relaxing. however, i've never seen or heard of one that would seem even remotely at home [aesthetically] at this online party.
just a bit of snooping around uncovered the linked site [below] of "modern nursery furniture" with what appears to be some attractive options.

Small word from experience
Warning, what I'm about to impart is gross, so if you are sensitive to descriptions of body fluids, stop reading.
Whitespike, whatever you pick will eventually be covered with baby puke. Babies, when being burped, tend to erupt all down the back of the rocker. No matter how often or diligently you clean it, it will always have faint yellow stains. Having said that, perhaps it would be wise to go with fiberglass instead of upholstery.
I just bought cheap rockers for my three and when they were finally out of the projectile vomit stage, I chucked the chairs.

Where would Thonet chair be signed?
This chair is on EBAY. Is this how a Thonet would be marked? It is hard for me to believe the wood would be marred in that location
