i'm going to check out a sputnik chandelier in a couple days...wondering if there's any information out there about any markings i should be looking for. from the small craiglist pic, looks like the 24 arm model.
from the small amount of research i've tried to do, i don't how to tell the age/decade it was produced or the manufacturer (was there multiple manufacturers between 1950-1970)?
I would like to know about this, too
I am bumping this thread because I would like to know this, too.
Some guy has a black 24 Arm one up on ebay that was being contemplated - but it has been painted black - what is beneath? Could be scarey.
And then I see the 12 Arm ones and I have seen MOE as a label on them.
I "hear" they should be solid brass - is that so?
I also see the huge ones indicated as Stilnovo, but is this actually true?
I was going to buy one for Christmas but with all the uncertainty, decided to go with something else.
If anyone wants to follow up on the original post form this guy, I would love to see the information - I've never been able to get clear answers.
sputnik pictures on the way.
i'll take some pictures of the lamp i picked up and the label under the housing. there are some details i've noticed that are different from the other pictures i've seen on ebay, 1stdibs, etc. and i'll note those as well.
i know y'all are absolute purists here, but bottom line for me is that we needed some sort of a pendant lamp for our eichler, my wife wanted a sputnik, and i'm going to use it.
pics of the sputnik
these are pictures of the one i picked up last weekend. couldn't find anything (i may be blind) on the label for lincoln. the other difference from some sputniks that i've seen is the bottom. mine doesn't have the protruding nub. anyone know what i'm talking about?
