I'm hoping these will be suitable for a seating project, far far cheaper to buy them than make.
They aren't common here, anyone ever had one break? Are they plywood or laminated with the grain all running in the one direction? Are they a good smooth arc or do they only take on that curve when they are fitted to the frame?
I have emailed the supplier but am impatient for
information.
Thanks for any advice.

Are you talking about slats...
Are you talking about slats made specifically for chairs? The only ones I've ever seen are bed slats and I don't know if they're plywood or laminated wood with grain all in the same direction. BUT I do know that they are made with the arc in them already. I got some at IKEA (one of the products they have that are good quality, in my opinion).
I think they need to be loose in the frame (but connected to each other with webbing or something similar) so that they have room to flatten out a bit when in use. But that's probably obvious.
