a short Eames shell chair H base  

Hi folks,

So sometime ago I bought a big lot of H bases for the Eames shell chairs (I had a few side shells with missing bases). Anyways, one of them seems to be a few inches shorter than all the rest. I've never seen this before and was wondering if someone just chopped the legs (though it has the original glides and all), or if this is perhaps a children's base or something? The bolt pattern fit the usual the shell chair; it's exactly the same as the run of the mill H bases, just lower. What's the deal?
