I'll be in France next month--any suggestions for modestly priced, portable, modern-design treasures not seen in the U.S. that I should look for?
Merci.

You've seen all the "modestly priced" in the U.S. Why not try to "see" something instead of Buying ? In Paris you can see good contemporary design at galerie Kreo , at the cappellini flagship in Marais area.

Thanks
Good point, Some1. To be more specific, I guess what I meant to inquire about is the equivalent of the interesting junk shop here in the States where I sometimes find the perfect but anonymously designed c. 1947 to 1964 ash tray or soup ladle or candlestick, etc. I have a vague idea that there's a flea market, but my time will be sadly limited. Of course, I'll be feasting my eyes at galleries and museums, but I want to bring back a little something more than a Muse´e Picasso T shirt.
