'with a white liquid adhesive', very curious to know what glue they use, surely not just pva?
Thanks, Heath.
Although more pictures would have been nice -- and videos perhaps even better -- we now know far more than we did about how this chair is made. Good stuff. Salud.
(Anybody recall the link to those Wegner chair manufacturing videos ?)
The layer of cotton -- woven, presumably -- is a vitally interesting detail. I wonder if any other laminated wood construction introduces such reinforcement.
I'm seeing lots of carbon-fiber lamination videos on "How It's Made" on TV. Usually the technique involves assembly of resin-impregnated fabric on a male or female form or over a mandrel, followed by enclosure in a vacuum bag and baking while under vacuum pressure to fuse the resins.
So far: Baseball bats, vaulting poles, kayaks, canoes, cellos. . .

Yes it was a bit light on images but it was still good to see something, the PP mobler etc videos were at dkvogue.com
Was the cotton just a strengthener or some sort of compensatory measure for uneven veneer or molds? What were your thought on the adhesive? I want to start doing more mold making and vacuum pressing and if I can find that kosher adhesive I'll be a happy man.
Thanks heaps F'fwd for the images link.
see that totally knackered barcelona chair!
