Hi

i know that a lot of you have experience in both buying & selling furniture & i'm looking for some advice as i need to sell a 2 year old Knoll Barcelona chair.

Is there a book of "guide prices" so i can get an idea of how much i can expect ? would eBay be wise ? i've only seen cheap copies for sale on eBay in england & need to know where to pitch my price to sell.

ive kept details to a minimum as i don't want it to appear that i'm using the forum as a cheap way of advertising (& would use the ads section!)

Many thank in advance.

Paul

Thanks Barry. The new price for mine is £4280 but i've no idea of potential resale value.you see plenty of Eames lounge chairs on eBay in England but weirdly no (that i've seen) Barcelona chairs. So, either there's not a demand for them or they just don't come up very often.
either way i'd like to know if anyones got any recent experience of selling to know where to pitch the price or mothball it for the next 10 years till i can afford a bigger house!

Display models
Display models from Knoll and occasionally off shop floors can go for around 40% off the list price.
That might give you a guide.

In selling
In my experience selling I start reasonable - but not a steal. You put a good bit of cash in for it, and you've used it for two years: ask say 15% less than retail, but allow some room to negotiate pricing. Flexibility is key - even if its only a few bucks it can make the buyer feel like they're getting a deal!
