I am in love with the Hans Wegner CH325 oval Dining Table. I've never seen it in walnut, and the price for walnut is just out of our range. (In fact, the soap beech is so beautiful that I'm trying to convince myself to go with that instead.)
Can anyone recommend a walnut table with a similar feel for under $6K? If not, what table would you think of if price were no object?
Also, if you have actually seen the Wegner table in person, is it really as fabulous as it seems?
Bon Luxat dining tables
Here's a place you could look. I just discovered this two days ago, while trying to find a dining table for a friend.

I have a beautiful
Harvey Probber oval dining table w/leaves sitting in my basement collecting dust. It is natural (unstained) mahogany. I will sell it for 2,500 USD if you promise that it is going to go to a loving home and you are willing to come get it/arrange for shipping. I am only in the US until Aug. 23rd so don't dilly-dally. You can see my table on 1stdibs, just search for Harvey Probber dining table, unstained mahogany, oval, saber leg. If you are seriously interested, I will put it on the Radar (see above menu line) and you can buy it.
You could custom order a tabl...
You could custom order a table through ////. They could easily replicate that table but build it in walnut. I recently had them replicate a table I found but wanted to alter the legs on -- turned out really well.

Construction
//// actually use traditional construction - mortise and tenon joinery. SImilar to Wegner they use sustainable resources and uninterrupted solid wood. I bought my dining room table from their - walnut and simple in design (was able to customize) and just thought I'd pass the word along.
