edit: I made a schematic drawing of the thing, maybe this helps. The table top is a fake marble, like polyester with a vinyl or something, I don't know exactly.

Yesterday I came by a round coffeetable, the top was made of what seemed to be a raisin and finished with a faux marble-look.
The base was a black coated steel, consisting of one central foot supported by two slices of metal, forming a sort of distorted H (with the central foot as connector).

I know I've seen this before, but I can't work out who did this...

I live in Belgium (if this helps narrowing it down).
