Have a piece of danish teak furniture, frustratingly it has a scratch about 3' long, it doesn't appear to be too deep. What is the best way to deal with this, can I polish or do something to get rid or at least make it a little less harsh?

I have tried a standard furniture polish which hasn't made a lot of difference.

Thanks 🙂

Is the finish oiled? Often some extra oil will ameliorate a scratch - you'll have to remove the furniture polish you put on first though. Otherwise a wax filler stick should do the job - if you can't find an exact match mix two to reach a good match, erring towards darker rather than lighter.

tung oil
get at any hardware store, use a small brush to paint a generous stripe on the scratch, let it soak in a few minutes then wipe lightly with a clean, dry cotton cloth, let dry overnight.

Scratch Cover .........
Topps, in their wisdom, have ceased making the light coloured scratch cover, which was perfect for teak, but Rustins do one that is a good one for teak, and other lightish woods, as well as a great restorer.
