The brooch?
I could take it or leave it (but I'm not a jewelry lover).
I'm intensely curious, though, how one "wins" things accidentally at auction(?).
(Every television sitcom from my childhood used this plot device at least once-- second only to "amnesia" in popularity.)

Lets play
Except having seen photographs in design books I know little about Modernist jewelry.
Henning Koppel, Bertoia, Margaret de Patta often show up in my references but I would love to have more depth on the whole subject.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

ooops!
well, i accidentally won by filling out an absentee bid form thinking there's no way i would "win" but, Gulp.... i dids !
i did some research on sam kramer, he sounded like a cool guy. this will be my first piece o' modernist jewelry.... should be cool to have it in hand.
to my knowledge.... de paata, art smith, and sam kramer were the 3 big vintage modernist jewelers.

How Much
How much did the Eames cabinet go for? I'm intensely curious about this stuff - along with the slightly later case-goods with the bent plywood legs. Seems like a perfect thing for someone to re-release...unless it's Vitra, in which case it will be 10,000 dollars.
But seriously. And what exactly does one do with such a rare piece of furniture?

eames saarinen cabinet......
it went for 2k plus buyers fee.
eames and saarinen collaborated on this piece and it was made by red lion furniture.......
produced in 1940 = pre-historic !

There's a nice book...
There's a nice book 'Messengers of Modernism' which details a lot of mid century art jewellery (jewelry!) - Art Smith , Sandy Calder, Earl Pardon etc.
