hi all,
i have two dutch rattan chairs made in the 50's or 60's by rohe noordwolde ( pics http://karelverstraeten.be/rohe ).
they are quiet common, but I really like the lines. However, the condition of these two is really bad. They must have been standing outside for a long time.
Does someone have an advice on how to clean them up? I tried to sand some parts, but the wood seems really damaged. I also would consider sanding and spraypainting (black).
what do you, experts think?

no doubt you're right, it's better to buy some new ones in a better shape.
but... since they are here now, i'd prefer to give them a cleanup anyway. I think I'll go for the 'all black' option.
