Thanks. Thought so as well. The fibreglass is also in great condition. Guess it makes more sense to reupholster it once when the vinyl is torn or something, heard that the vinyl of those chairs is impossible to repair.
Have understood that in general the vinyl chairs are less valuable, anyone knows?
just curious
without seeing the actual chair cover, are you certain that the upholstery is viny? vinyl colors are integrated into the material. fading (or more like discoloration) could occur but not like as shown. leather on the other hand is tinted on the surface during the tanning process and when distressed creates color loss where it gets rubbed often. unless the original vinyl was re-colored-re-tinted by it s previous owner and vinyl even with the new products recently being advertised as vinyl paint usually will rub off too eventually.
it is your choice to re-epholster if you prefer the brand new look. it is too bad that distressing or wear (not dirt or grime or damaged stitches) is seen by some as flaw.
we have recovered over 500...
we have recovered over 500 chairs at our company all Eames fiberglass covered chairs, never seen one like that. Vinyl does not take on those properties only aged dirt. If anyone calls that patina they do not know what they are talking about as it is DIRT. That chair must be leather, as leather does break down and takes on its own look and that is what everyone calls patina. very unique.
