two back shock mounts gave out on my eames shell. I have several of these chairs and don't want to spend much to repair ... just to use in the office etc. Any magic adhesive I can use? The didn't break cleanly.

Probably
the epoxy cement that you mix should do the trick. You will loose a bit of play on the mount, tho.

eh
ask graham mancha or alfie? I feel like this disucssion was had before and the consensus was that epoxy was too brittle to really hold. I couldnt find it on a quick search of the forum, but I'll try again when I get home from work.

didn't work for me
I tried epoxy on one of mine and it held for all of five minutes. This was after it had many days to set up, harden, cure, etc.
My brother, an amateur boat builder and master stair carpenter, told me that marine epoxy might work because it remains slightly flexible once it has cured. I meant to try it but never got around to it and finally sold the damn chairs. I do not regret it for an instant.

on most of the shell chairs...
on most of the shell chairs that are sent to the company that i own., the boys have gotten away from fixing the shock mounts on the shell chairs they have been removing them and putting in male / female screws
and every one seems to love them, of course it is so easy when you recover the chair.

Peter, if you would read my post instead of just spamming yourself blindly, this is not for a lounge chair. Thanks for clocking in. I am assuming your spam will be deleted shortly. Cheers.

Hi
I have exactly the same problem and trying to find a solution too, that's how I found your post. Apparently the best solution should be the 3M 5200 in black.
I tried epoxy before and didn't last very long, so I will try this one and let you know !
