re-upholstered seat and re-finished base
i searched and came across with a couple of posts regarding the stamp on the base. has the ALCOA stamp been confirmed as indication of an authentic early examples?

That is a very early example. First production. Note the stainless steel floor glide. This was soon changed to felt and later to nylon.

it turns out that only the base is original. the seat was made by a carpenter and it was attached to the base.
