There is a white label that has faded into a yellow hue with some extremely faded black text. I'll have to take some more pictures later tonight. Can I ask what's makes you believe in fact authentic, and if so what's it roughly worth? I know is probably isn't the correct forum for that but I haven't seem any this year with painted aluminum that isn't chrome.

The "auburgine" versions of these have got to be among the least desirable, generally speaking. I can't imagine a knock-off having been produced with this option. I agree with kin that the chairs are authentic vintage.

Eggplant. It's a love it or hate it sort of thing.

I can feel polished lacquered aluminum with my eyes closed...and gently blindfolded. No charge.

I'd grab as many of those red ones as possible. That custom-order combo is killer and the high-back versions are less common.

P.S. Mark, I've been advised that half your age plus seven years is socially acceptable unless, of course, it's a strictly platonic relationship or you're from Alabama. Is there a legible date stamp on these chairs?

ps. I want to see "pencil eraser orange" colored castors adorning the aubergine frame/ red leather combo on these chairs. I do.

Those red ones above aren't bad but this is what I have in mind. Just lovely.

Oh, thanks a lot, kin. The patina on that seat cushion is enough to send Mark into fits, blindfolded or not.

I have a dark blue softpad on an eggplant frame. Awful. Pointless. I have a spare polished aluminium frame and I will be removing the blue softpad from the awful frame and putting it on the aluminium frame where it belongs. January job. There will be photos - and likely tears. And then, necessarily, beer.
