I just purchased an Eames DKR wire chair off eBay for a good price. the seller does not have the certificate of authenticity, but states that it is a recent Herman Miller purchase.
Is there any way to verify these claims? Are there any printings on the chair of the bikini pad that will establish this?
Thanks in advance!

Hi
I would think that the bikini would be labeled in some way, but that's just a guess. Is it real leather?
The metal frame where the base attaches is different from the vintage chairs. I have not looked a recent production myself. Perhaps you can go to a local Herman Miller dealer and have a look? Another option would be to send the pics to HM.

I have a dkr seat with identical seat mount that I bought cheap on ebay in a rush. Compared to a real dkr I have the proportions are kind of odd and the back is very upright, making it quite uncomfortable, so I guess it's a fake.
The picture shows the original seat mount, but then again vitra uses the same kind of mount your chair has on their recent production, I don't know about HM.
A good idea would be to compare your chair to a real one if you can and check the details...
EDIT: similar advice, but you were faster than me, woodywood 🙂
my vintage bikini cover doesn't have any label, but the base of the chair has a hm-tag.
DKR-1
I have some vintage chairs with the one-piece padded cover. Some have the HM tag on the cover and some do not. I think they're all original though.
The current HM and Vitra production should be same since it is made by Vitra. I can imagine that they possibly changed the mounting system since that was a common area of breakage on the older chairs.
