I have no doubt that Howe's construction quality is first-rate...
But that design doesn't seem particularly attractive. And the price is $650+? It's hard to imagine why a buyer would choose that chair when so many others -- like Jacobsen's Series Seven, for example -- are more graceful and less expensive.

.
Yes I think this idea that everything well known designers do is worthy of praise, should never be improved, changed or deleted is going a bit far now.
The same with this obsession for original scars, I actually heard a radio interview last week where the subject was extolling the wonders of the restoration of a Gallery, they had preserved 'original holes' from exhibitions in the 40's, either that or the budget didn't stretch to spackle.

fastfwd,
I agree this design does not "set the world on fire". It would seem perfect as school chair, although not being stack-able could be considered a drawback for institutional use.
In early 2004 I purchased a black Tongue chair directly from Fritz Hansen. It was used in a Fritz Hansen US dealer tour with the Michael Sheridan, Room 606 book lecture.
I use this with a Leitz Tiltall and Zeiss Diascope T 85 FL spotting scope. Form and function are 100% (to me) in this use.
I am prejudice in that I look on Fritz Hansen (Poul Kjærholm PK series in particular) in the same way as many on this forum view Eames.
