I direct my question to tchp in particular, but all help and advise is welcome.
You bought several black moller chairs, did you need to do some work on the frames?
The laquer has faded or gone on the edges, with mine.
There are marks on the legs and the surface has lost its even tone.
Can you advise me a solution that helps me touching up these problems, as I would like to keep the finish as original as possible.
Thanks in advance!
bj, yes I had to do some work...
bj, yes I had to do some work on the paint on my chairs, primarily because when I bought them I was told they had been spray painted black, and so I removed some of the paint from a chair's backrest before I realized that they were factory painted.
I used a tube of Ivory Black artist's oil tube paint, mixed with some clear lacquer that I had bought in a can. By adjusting the amount/density of the oil paint I mixed with the lacquer, I could get a different level of sheen to the paint, and was able to match things up well enough that I could not see any difference. Lacquer dries very fast, so I also added a few drops of lacquer thinner to help slow the dry time as I brushed it out. It also worked well for re-touching.
